The reason for this is because the original file is in an image-type format which has been optimised to the reproduced only for business cards or letterheads, not very useful if you need your corporate logo on some 5m banners or on an exhibition wall backdrop!
A file saved in an image format such as JPEG, BMP or TIF is made up of pixels that are resolution dependent. When the file is enlarged, the distance between these pixels increases which visually decreases the quality as there becomes fewer pixels needed to 'describe' the image. Software such as Adobe Photoshop uses techniques such as 'interpolation' whereby pixels are 'averaged' between the gaps, this helps but only so much as the image becomes more 'blurred' as it is enlarged.
We can take your logo and re-digitise it into a 'vectorised' format - vector files are resolution independent. They consist of mathematical formulae that describes the image so as it's enlarged all the necessary information is 'filled-in' allowing it to maintain legibility as the size increases, so no matter how big it gets it still looks good!
The file can be supplied back to you on removable media, e-mailed or sent direct to your agency or printer, we can also offer you a complete signage service that you can incorporate your newly digitised file into!
